# Does VSME require LCA and EPD?

Short answer: No, LCA (Life Cycle Assessment)  or EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is not a requirement under the VSME framework.

In VSME, section B1 – Basis for preparation states that if an undertaking has obtained any sustainability-related certification or label, it shall provide a brief description of these (including, where relevant, the issuer, date, and rating or score).

This means that LCA or EPD should only be reported if they already exist; they are not mandatory under VSME.
